Compare and learn how to switch your Georgia gas supplier and save on your natural gas bill. Free, no interruption.
Switching natural gas marketers in Georgia is free, takes a few minutes, and does not interrupt your service. No one visits your home, nothing is dug up, and no pipe is touched. The only thing that changes is which company bills you for the gas itself.
Under Georgia natural gas deregulation, the distribution system stayed with the utility. Atlanta Gas Light still owns the pipes, reads your meter and responds to leaks — regardless of which marketer you choose. Switching changes the supply portion of your bill and nothing else. If your marketer went out of business tomorrow, your gas would keep flowing.
Pull these off your current bill, because without them you cannot tell whether an offer is actually better:
Understand your natural gas bill shows where each appears, and how to understand GA gas rates explains how to combine them into a real comparison.
If you are mid-term on a fixed rate plan, you may owe an early termination fee — commonly $50 to $150. Compare that against your projected savings over the remaining months. Sometimes paying it still wins; often it is better to wait and diary the end date. On a variable plan there is usually no fee at all, so you can move immediately.
A switch normally takes effect on your next meter read, so expect one to two billing cycles. You cannot usually pick the exact date. If you are switching to beat winter, start in early autumn rather than December.
Some marketers run a credit check and may ask for a deposit. Prepaid and no-deposit plans exist precisely for this situation — see poor credit? you have options.
